Interview with Lucia Palmeri and Lauren Woods:
Q- How long have you been in the home and interiors industry?
A - Lucia and Lauren have been in the residential interior industry for 11 years
Q - What is your biggest accomplishment in your home interiors/furnishings career?
A - We have had the honor of receiving several sales awards, positive thinkers award as well as being invited into the Decorating Den Interiors President’s Club. Although, we would have to say our biggest accomplishments is creating beautiful interiors that our client’s enjoy and treasure.
Q- What is still the biggest challenge thus far in your career?
A- We opened our business during the 2008/2009 recession. Getting off the ground was difficult at first. Even with that, we would have to say the biggest challenge so far has to be now during the COVID-19 outbreak. We have had to work very differently with our client’s in virtual design world.
Q- What’s your best advice for handling difficult clients?
A- Our best advice is to stop and listen fully to your difficult client’s issues. Stay calm and don’t respond negatively. Don’t dismiss their issue and take a few minutes to try to ease the issue with a solution that can make them as satisfied as possible, but still keep you profitable. It’s not always easy, but try to have a solution prepared before addressing their issues.
Q - What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned that you’d like to share with your industry newbies?
A - Always make sure you have skilled people to work with in the industry. Your sub-contractors must be professional in your client’s home.Folks watch a lot of design shows on TV, so keep up to date on the latest trends and products so you can speak confidently to them.
Q - How do you market your business to differentiate yourself in a crowded marketplace?
A - We try to differentiate ourselves from others, by making sure our website is updated and informative. We keep lots of information about who we are, how we work, examples and our portfolio on the website so a potential client knows about us even before calling. We also pride ourselves in making sure our customer service is top notch. It’s important for our client’s to know we are available and there for them.
Q - How long have you been a 3Dream.net™ or The Board™ (or both) user?
A – We have been using 3Dream since 2013 so just about 7 years.
Q - What 3 tech tools do you find indispensable for daily tasks?
A - Marketing Tools - SEOM and PPC / Design Tools – 3Dream and Microsoft Office / Back Office Tools – Our internal Decorating Den Interiors System
Q - How have our design tools positively impacted your business?
A – There’s nothing like a 3 dimensional visual of an interior design. 3Dream helps us help our client’s visualize their room before it even happens. It takes some of the fear of the unknown away from the process. 3Dream has also helped us get client’s to commit to working with us. When a potential client sees an example of a before photo, a 3Dream design and an after photo, they know what to expect from us.
Q - What’s does your next chapter or dream look like?
A – Well, we’re a little unsure of what our next chapter holds as we love working on design projects for our clients. Maybe in the future we can teach young students about interior decorating as a profession.
